Spring  Term Information

Welcome to Kingfisher class.

This half term we will be studying Extreme Weather with a focus on developing our Geography skills and our understanding of different animal habitats around the world.  We are hoping to visit Chester Zoo during the half term to find out about animals that live in different habitats.

In Science we are studying animals including humans and thinking about food chains and how animals are adapted to their habitats.

Religious Education will be focusing on developing our understanding of Islam.  We will be learning about how Islamic beliefs impact on family life and stories in the life of the prophet.

On Fridays Kingfisher class will be having their PE lesson with Damion (Sport Specialist) whilst I am on PPA time. Please ensure your child has their PE kit with them. As these lessons may be outside, please could you ensure your child has a jumper and leggings/track suit bottoms. On Friday afternoon, Mrs Karen Capewell will be teaching the last session of the day.  We will also be doing Gymnastics on a Tuesday afternoon, so children need their kits on that day too.

Homework will be handed out on a Friday and is expected to be returned by the following Friday. In addition to this, children are expected to read to an adult for ten minutes every day and record this in their reading log.  To aid your child’s mathematical progress, please practice the times tables. It is expected that by the end of year 4 children should be able to recall all times table facts in under 6 seconds.

Please ensure your child brings the following to school each day:
✓ A water bottle
✓ Coat
✓ Reading diary
✓ Reading book

If you wish to speak to me please feel free to approach me whilst I’m on the yard or alternatively please phone the school and make an appointment.
