What a fantastic first week in Robin class. The children have explored their new classroom, met their buddies and made new friends. We are so proud of how well the new reception children have settled into school life and how welcoming and helpful the year 1’s have been.
Year 1 have made a fantastic start in their English and Maths work. They felt so grown up working in the break out area and have impressed us with their number work. We have been focusing on numbers to 10 this week.
Reception have started phonics and in maths have been focusing on matching, looking carefully at similarities and differences in objects.
More details about how phonics and how we teach children to read will be sent out over the next few weeks so you are able to support your child at home. Year 1 have been given home reading books this week. Reception will receive books towards the end of this half-term.
Half term homework: This half term we would like you to support your child in developing confidence and independence when getting changed. Drying themselves with a towel is also a useful skill ready for swimming which will start at the end of the month. We will always support your child changing on PE days where needed.
We hope you have a lovely weekend and can’t wait for another amazing week.
