Busy Week in Kingfisher
We have had a busy week in Kingfisher class. We are really enjoying our Drama lessons with Millie and extended our new found drama skills into English this week where we worked in groups to devise a short role play scenario based on finding an unusual creature, just like the Bog Baby. There were some interesting characters and gripping storylines along with some extraordinary setting choices! It was great to see the children collaborating and stretching their communication skills to work together.
We have enjoyed our weekly French lesson with Mrs Capewell and this week, we have been learning how to count to ten in French! As usual, swimming was a blast and we also enjoyed Gymnastics in PE.
In Maths, we have continued our work on place value and have introduced ‘Fluency Friday’ where we practice our maths fluency skills. The children really enjoy doing this and are gaining speed each week.
We have enjoyed learning about ocean creatures during Shared Reading lessons, as we work our way through our non-fiction text of ‘Sharks and Other Sea Creatures’. Did you know there are over 300 different species of Jellyfish? And the fastest shark in the ocean is called a Mako shark! Lots of interesting facts have been retrieved this week!
Next week, we will carry on with place value work in Maths, continue with our Stone Age topic in History and begin to write our own stories inspired by our work on The Bog Baby.
Have a great weekend!
