Deforestation – A tale of two halves
This week we have been carrying out some assessments and many of Swan class had the good fortune to be out in the Autumn sunshine in their bikes doing a Bikeability programme. This was the chance to learn about road safety whilst out on our bikes. The importance of clear hand signals and wearing a helmet.
In the afternoon we have been looking at deforestation as part of our rainforest topic. We have looked at the problems that deforestation is causing and also why it might be happening – so who might benefit. This week we will be using this information to write a speech – this will end in a debate arguing both sides of a difficult concept.
In maths we have started looking at simplifying fractions and later this week we will be adding and subtracting fractions . In our English lessons we are continuing our work on ‘The Journey to the river sea and writing our newspaper articles about Shackletson’s trip to the Antarctic.
