Hokusai’s The Great Wave
A busy week of maths problem solving was punctuated with our first attempt at drawing Hokusai’s the great wave. A famous picture showing Mount Fuji and three sailing boats battling the great wave. It clearly illustrates the strength of resilience of the Japanese people against the natural disasters that befall the country. Japan is subject to extreme weather due to is global position in relation to Tectonic plates which we have been learning about in our topic work. Last week in art the pupils examined the picture considering how it made them feel and considering the shapes and colours which Hokusai. Rather than just copy his work the pupils decided to make ‘The Great Wave’ in their own style.
In other news our ‘spelling push’ has once again resulted in most of the pupils achieving 10 out of 10 !
