Kingfisher have been busy this week, continuing our work on Money in Maths and learning to add, subtract and compare different amounts.
We have continued our work on Grandad’s Island in English this week and have moved onto planning our own version of the story. Today, we whisked ourselves off to a desert island and completed a senses grid, thinking about all the different things we would see, hear, feel, taste and smell. We have also been learning about prepositions and have applied this learning to our senses grids.
In Science, we have continued our work on Sound and this week, we explored pitch with different musical instruments, observing the relationship between the length, thickness or size of an instrument and the pitch it creates. We made our own panpipes using paper straws and discussed what we could do to change the pitch of our instrument.
In Geography (Topic) we have continued our work on the local area and today, we used Google Earth to create a sketch map of our school grounds from an aerial view. The children were trying to find their houses on the map, too. I was really impressed their sketch maps, they all did a great job.
Have a lovely weekend, see you next week.
