We have been busy working in Swan class – our afternoons have been spent trying out different scientific experiments. On Monday we looked at load bearing structures – making Lego bridges and determining the best shape to take weight.
On Tuesday we had to decide which was the most absorbent material to make an astronaut ‘nappy’- After all they have to work outside the spaceships for many hours.
Another experiment was attempting to save people stuck in a block of ice. One group used vinegar to try to remove the people safely. Other methods tried were heat, salt, hands, and chipping the block using metal spoons. We also made plastic using curds – from milk and vinegar . The class worked well as a team and we all had brilliant fun.
